Pinson Councilwoman Joy McCain announced Friday that she intends to run for re-election in the Aug. 28 municipal elections.
McCain will be running for Place 5 on the council, which is the position she currently holds.
“I love my city and want to give back to it, making my city better and safer than it was yesterday,” she said. “Every day, I feel like I have the opportunity to make the city where I live a better place. This is why I like being a public servant and, if I do my job, it will get better for me and my neighbors.”
McCain has lived in Pinson for 33 years and has served on the Pinson City Council for over eight years. She has served on the city Enhancement Committee for the last eight years and the Planning and Zoning Commission for the last six years. She also served for one year on the Citizen Steering Committee.
“I have completed 40 hours of basic Certified Municipal Officer training and 80 hours of advanced CMO, so as to have better tools to help me perform my duties efficiently and effectively,” she said. “By being a city councilor, I have the opportunity to use what I have learned to help my city, and I feel like I am on the inside of what is happening in the city of Pinson, that I am making a difference. Strong leaders produce great results
. I want to focus on the future.”
Pinson residents will be able to vote at Pinson United Methodist Church.
