Voters turned out at Trussville City Hall and First Baptist Church Trussville on Tuesday to select the next Trussville mayor and city council. With all boxes reporting, The Tribune is projecting the winners in the Trussville mayor and council race

In the mayoral race, incumbent Gene Melton faced Scott Bradford, Carl Dykes and former councilman Jim Robinson. Unofficial results show Melton with 1,380 votes, followed by Robinson with 922 votes, Dykes with 207 votes and Bradford with 101 votes. The 52% lead gives Melton another term without a run-off.
In Council Place 1, incumbent Wayne Taylor faced challenger Perry Cook. Unofficial results in that race showed Cook winning the race with 1,535 votes to Taylor’s 1,071 votes.
The race for Council Place 5 had incumbent Anthony Montalto taking on challenger David Guttery. Unofficial results in that race showed Montalto winning with 1,376 votes to Guttery’s 1,230 votes.
