The Pinson City Council passed three resolutions tonight recognizing the achievements of local youth.
Randall Terry, the head coach of the 2012 Pinson Valley Youth Association 16U Girls Softball “Pinson Panther” team, was presented with an official original copy of Resolution 12-35, which recognized the team for “their outstanding work and dedication to the 2011-2012 season.”
According to the resolution, the team “has had another exceptional season, winning the State Championship for the first time in PVYA history; and…represented the Pinson Valley Youth Association and the City of Pinson with superior skills and in a sportsmanlike manner.”
In addition, the council passed Resolution 12-38, recognizing Pinson Valley High School baseball players Bailey Chesser and Scott Falkinburg.
Chesser and Falkinburg “were two of four players from Alabama, chosen from thousands of baseball players nationally to participate in the Under Armour National Team in Pirate City, Bradenton, Fla.,” the resolution stated
.
Chesser was at the council meeting, but Falkinburg was unable to attend.
Finally, the council passed Resolution 12-39, which recognized Pinson Valley High School senior Abby Vinson for receiving an Outstanding Birmingham Area Student award.
“Birmingham Magazine requested nominations for outstanding students who stood out among their peers, strived to achieve excellence in all areas of their lives,” according to the resolution. “Abby Vinson so distinguished herself among the nominees and was chosen as an outstanding area student for the 2013 graduation class.”
