Authorities are actively searching for two men who are suspected of robbing the BB&T bank located on Chalkville Mtn. Rd. today.
The robbery occurred around 3:30 p.m. as two men entered the bank carrying handguns, jumped over the counter and demanded money
.
“The suspects stormed into the building armed with handguns and wearing masks and gloves,” said Jefferson County Chief Deputy Randy Christian. No one was injured during the incident.
Law enforcement officers spread out over the area searching for a black Honda Odyssey, which is believed to be the vehicle that fled the scene. Officers located a vehicle matching that description parked in the back of Grayson Trace Apartments located near the bank.
According to authorities, the vehicle was unoccupied but they determined it was the vehicle in question. “After running the tag our Deputy was able to confirm that it was reported stolen June 13 out of Atlanta,” Christian said.
After questioning the apartment complex residents, authorities determined the suspects parked the van and then left in a different vehicle. The suspects were seen leaving the scene in a small, silver sedan.
All local law enforcement officials are searching for the robbery suspects.
