The city of Clay is working to continue building revenue for its city, while recovering from the damages to the business community following the Jan
. 23 tornado.
One woman is looking to open a “General Store” at the former location of Piggly Wiggly. The owner, who wishes to remain anonymous, is excited about the possibility of bringing a unique business to our area.
According to the business owner, the General Store will offer items such as: hardware, feed, farm supplies and pet supplies, and a wide range of gift items.
Management said they will have a grocery department selling produce, meats, farm fresh eggs and items from the local farmer’s, along with some specialty items.
“We want to be a resource for the local people to sell their wares,” the business owner said. “We are going to have a restaurant serving breakfast and lunch six days per week and dinner four nights per week.”
Seasonally, the store plans to offer a selection of shrubs, trees and flowers.
“The store will have a potting section where you can come pot your own plants with everything right there at your fingertips to do it with, along with a beautiful selection of flowers,” the owner said.
In an effort to help this prospective business, we have been asked to get input from our community.
