The Pinson Valley Indians Volleyball team is now the top ranked school in their area. The new rank comes after a win at home over Springville High School.
“Springville is the best defensive team we have faced this year, so we had to work very hard on the offensive side to score,” Kristan Cromer, the team’s head coach said. “Our seniors really came through for us and fought hard to go home with a victory on their last regular season home game.”
According to Cromer, the four seniors on the squad led the team to victory
. Kanden Dawkins had 19 assists, 18 digs, 17 kills, four blocks, and three aces. Blakley Lecroy had 20 digs, 1 block, and 18 assists. Amber Howard had 12 kills and 8 blocks. Meagan Howard had 26 digs.
As the top ranked team, the Indians will be hosting the area tournament this month.
The Indians toppled Parker High School and Jackson Olin High School in a tri-match on September 27.
“We easily won both matches taking our record to 15-4 against J.O. and 16-4 against Parker,” Cromer said. “Our girls played good, solid volleyball to take home both wins.”
