On Tuesday, Oct. 16, there will be a kick-off party
for “Turn Trussville Pink” at the Three-Eared Rabbit
. The kick-off party is the day before this year’s “Turn Trussville Pink” event, a community-wide initiative to help promote breast cancer awareness.
“Turn Trussville Pink” began in 2008 and takes place every year on the 3rd Wednesday in October. What started as an event honoring two Hewitt-Trussville High School teachers has since spread across the city to encompass thousands of participants and dozens of businesses and churches.
All over the city, people are finding ways to “Turn Trussville Pink.” On Saturday, Trussville’s Youth Football league has been challenged to “Turn The Park Pink.” All fans and park friends are encouraged to wear pink to the youth football games.
Next Thursday, Hewitt Trussville Middle School Football will hold a “Pink Out” against Berry Middle School, and Friday night, Hewitt Trussville High School Football will hold a “Pink Out” against Huffman High.
The 5th Annual “Turn Trussville event will be held all day Wednesday, and to honor the event, several local businesses are having promotions on that day.
- Waffle House (Chalkville Rd. location) You guessed it, pink waffles will be offered all day! In addition, they will offer $1 pink coupons for a discounted future visit. Coupon sells will be donated to Turn Trussville Pink.
- Joel’s Resturant After the delicious lunch, make a donation for a piece of Joel and Peggy Riggins best-ever strawberry cake!
- Chick-fil-A Chick-fil-A will be donating all profits from the sale of the plush cow and serving pink lemonade all day.
- Cold Stone Creamery Anyone wearing pink or a pink ribbon will receive 15% discount! 30% of sales from any pink product (strawberry ice cream, milk shakes, etc) will be donated to Turn Trussville Pink!
