The Clay City Council hosted a Breast Cancer Awareness reception prior to its regular council meeting tonight. Jefferson County Sheriff Mike Hale and his wife, Dianna Hale, who is a breast cancer survivor, were present as guest speakers, along with Chalkville native and breast cancer survivor Sherry Zorn.
The city provided cake, nuts and mints served on pink plates with pink cutlery. Attendees were also able to purchase pink hammers for $15 a piece, with all proceeds going to the Susan G. Komen Foundation. The hammers were donated to the city by citizen Sherri Hood, and will now be available at Clay City Hall for purchase, as well
