School officials say a small fire at the high school yesterday afternoon will not delay opening this morning. Some classrooms may be rearranged, but school will start on time.
Hewitt-Trussville High School was evacuated Tuesday afternoon due to reports of smoke coming out of one of the classrooms
.
Trussville Fire Chief Russell Ledbetter said the smoke was coming from a small fire in one of the science classrooms.
“There was an issue with one of the science classrooms but it was controlled by one sprinkler head.” Ledbetter said.
The fire was controlled and all building occupants were evacuated.
Trussville Fire and Rescue was on the scene as smoke is being cleared from the building. School maintenance staff were also on hand cleaning up excess water.
No incident-related injuries have been reported.
