mentioned the Alabama Butterbean Festival’s world record pot of beans from 2010 in her recent column on roadside attractions in Alabama.
Kazek’s column, which featured roadside attractions throughout north Alabama, also mentioned some of the world’s largest items that are not actually on the roadside any longer.
“While Alabama has its fair share of large roadside attractions, not all the state’s record holders are stationary items. Some made a big splash before fading into history or being consumed,” Kazek writes.
The Alabama Butterbean Festival is held in Pinson each year and is sponsored by the Clay-Pinson Chamber of Commerce.
Of the world record pot of beans, Krazek writes, “Guinness World Records certified the World’s Largest Pot of Baked Beans at the Alabama Butterbean Festival in Pinson in 2010
. It contained 1,010 gallons of beans.”
