Hewitt Trussville senior pitcher Grayson Jones signed an athletic baseball scholarship with the University of Louisiana Monroe. ULM is the reigning Sun Belt Conference Champions.
Grayson was recruited by Coach Cory Barton who played for new Hewitt coach Jeff Mauldin while at Clay Chalkville. Jones will be a major part of the Huskies success on the field this year
. The signing was held Wednesday night November 14 at 6:30 in the Hewitt Trussville High School cafeteria.
Jones addressed those in attendance at his signing, thanking his family for supporting him through the years.
“Thanks to all my past coaches for helping and teaching me the game of baseball,” Jones said. “Also a thanks to Coach Mauldin for helping find the place where I want to go to college and for pushing me and my teammates for last couple months.”
Jones also acknowledged his teammates, many of which have been part of his baseball life since childhood.
“I would also like to thank my teammates for being there with me through thick and thin,” Jones said. “We have played together and won since we were little. But most of all I would like to thank God for giving me the ability and gift to play baseball at the next level.”
