Birmingham Business Alliance President and CEO Brian Hilson was the featured speaker at the Trussville Area Chamber of Commerce monthly luncheon. The luncheon was held at the Hilton Garden Inn, 3230 Edwards Lake Parkway, on Dec. 20. The luncheon was sponsored by Independence Place, an agency that provides day-programming for special needs adults.
Hilson told the group that the proposed Northern Beltline will be longer than I-459 (52.5 miles as opposed to 33 miles). It will be have huge impact on growth in the Trussville area. It will also help to ease congestion on Highway 280.
“We need to accelerate construction of the Northern Beltline instead of double-decking 280,” he said. He added that some of the Northern Beltline construction could begin as early as next year.
Hilson ended his presentation with his thoughts on regionalization of the seven county area, which includes Jefferson and Blount Counties, and others.
“We must think of the area as a unified place,” he said. “When people consider moving to the Birmingham area, they don’t know there are so many different municipalities
. We must all work together to make this region the best it can be.”
The Hewitt-Trussville High School Chamber Choir performed Christmas carols at the luncheon. Included in their selections were beautiful renditions of “Carol of the Bells,” “Jingle Bells,” and “We Wish You a Merry Christmas.” Directed by Allen Gillespie and donned in black tuxedos and full-length black dresses, they delighted luncheon attendees with their Christmas spirit.
TACC also recognized its December Customer Service of the Month recipient, Paula Offutt of Munoz Mexican Grill in Trussville.
Our nominator wrote this: “Paula is typically working behind the counter as we check out, but recently she has been in and around many of the customers when the crowds are light. She has always been friendly, she has always struck up conversation, and she genuinely seems appreciative for all of us coming into the restaurant…Paula continues to keep the gift of hospitality in the forefront of her mind and it shows.”
TACC thanks Paula for providing outstanding customer service to the Trussville area.
