Here’s a New Year’s day staple from Stephanie Parker at PlainChicken.com that is a must to start the year off right.
“In the South, black eye peas are a must for New Years,” Parker said. “They are said to bring you good luck in the new year. I am not one to tempt fate, so we always eat black eye peas on New Years Day. This year I am going to make this recipe in my slow cooker. They couldn’t be any easier. You don’t have to soak the beans, just rinse them off and put them in the slow cooker
. We served the peas with some extra ham and cornbread. You can get the cornbread recipe here.”
