Former The Trussville Tribune managing editor Gary Lloyd has returned to the same position, publisher Scott Buttram announced.
Lloyd’s first day was Wednesday.
Lloyd, the newspaper’s managing editor from November 2010 to June 2012, has been an associate editor of Pumps & Systems and Upstream Pumping Solutions magazines at Cahaba Media Group in Birmingham since July 2012 and a freelance writer for The Birmingham News since September 2012.
“Gary led The Tribune during our greatest growth period, both in print and online,” said Buttram. “I think I speak for everyone associated with the newspaper when I say that we are excited about the future under his leadership and we welcome him home.”
Anna McFall served as The Trussville Tribune managing editor from September 2012 to December 2012.
“I want to thank Anna for her commitment to The Tribune,” Buttram said. “I am grateful for her efforts and wish her well as she has the opportunity to pursue her passions in her career.”
Lloyd said his goal is to provide all the community news he can that affects Trussville, Clay, Pinson and surrounding areas.
“I hope to give area residents all the news they need to know and provide it in a timely fashion,” Lloyd said. “While the newspaper is a weekly publication, expect to see news all the time on www.trussvilletribune.com and our social media sites.”
Buttram said Lloyd’s time at Cahaba Media Group made him a “more seasoned and experienced leader.”
“He has shared his thoughts with me concerning his goals and direction for The Tribune, which I believe will excite our readers and our advertisers,” Buttram said. “He knows the cities we cover. He knows the schools and sports teams we cover
. He understands our role as the community newspaper for three great cities and he is highly respected by everyone. I’m glad he’s back and I know everyone in Trussville, Clay and Pinson feel the same way.”
