Spain Park outscored Hewitt-Trussville 10-5 in overtime and won 55-50 to take third place in this week’s 11th annual Jaguar Classic at Spain Park High School.
Junior guard Jarvis Calhoun led all scorers with 24 points for Hewitt-Trussville. Junior William McCullough added nine points, seven rebounds and five steals for the Huskies (8-11). Senior forward Matt Duffett chipped in with eight points and four rebounds.
Senior Deion Wright led the Jaguars with 15 points
. Seniors Drew Morgan and Jonathon Toups each scored 10 points for Spain Park.
The Huskies got their first lead, 37-36, as the third quarter ended when Calhoun buried his fourth 3-pointer of the quarter. Calhoun nailed four consecutive 3-pointers from beyond the arc in just 2:14.
“I knew I had to get open and make my shots,” Calhoun said.

The final quarter saw five lead changes, and the Jaguars missed an opportunity to win the game at the buzzer.
The Huskies’ lone win of the tournament came Wednesday when they beat Bessemer City 73-70 in overtime. Hewitt-Trussville fell to Vestavia Hills 53-40 in the semifinal round Thursday.
Hewitt-Trussville is back on the court at home Saturday at 7:30 p.m. against Moody.
