The Trussville Civic Center next Saturday is hosting a fishing seminar featuring professional angler Chris Jackson.
The class will last from 9 a.m
. to 5 p.m. and there are no age restrictions, said Trussville Senior Recreation Leader Zach Manning. Bringing fishing poles isn’t necessary, Manning said.
“It’s basically an educational type event,” Manning said.
The class will cover electronics (GPS and sonar) tactics, understanding maps and different resources of information, proper position with your boat, how to approach new waters, and being prepared for tournaments mentally and physically.
Food, snacks and gift bags will be provided for everyone that attends. There will be door prizes and a raffle. There will also be a drawing for a guide trip. Those who would like to attend must RSVP so the appropriate amount of food can be ordered.
Jackson was born just west of Birmingham, and eventually became a detective in the Narcotics Division of the Birmingham Police Department. He moved on from the department to follow his dream of becoming a professional bass fisherman. Jackson owns and is the lead guide for Fins-N-Grins Freshwater Adventures and fishes on several national tournament trails.
