Many Trussville City Schools students were recognized Monday night at the Trussville City Board of Education meeting.
The Hewitt-Trussville Middle School cheerleading team was recognized for winning a cheerleading title in November at Wallace State Community College. The girls are on to the AHSAA Nationals at Disney World and the Wide World of Sports in Orlando, Fla. next month. Representing the team at the meeting were captains Elli Bradley, Hannah Rosetta and Jordan Steward. The girls are coached by Kayla Pigg, Courtney Waldrop and Amy Bradley.
The Hewitt-Trussville High School band was recognized for having 210 members in the marching band this year, the first time it has reached more than 200 since 1996, when Clay-Chalkville was formed
. The band was the fourth-place overall band at the Spain Park competition, and third overall at the Prattville and Hoover competitions.
The 2012-2013 Leadership Team was announced. It consists of Grace Bruton, Sallie Latta, Tucker Ratcliff, Nikki Aldrich, Elizabeth Anderson, Charles Bailey, Rachel Fuller, Hannah Givens, Eric Hollingsworth, Harrison McMinn, Tyler Martin, Nikki Newman, Taylor Newman, Maddy Parkin, Matt Phillips, Autumn Rager, Amber Reed, Kirk Risher, Jacob Roberson, Ariel Rodriguez, Charlie Steward, Jennie Tanner, John Thomas, Alex Thrasher, Chase Trammell, Tyler Waldrep and Alex Wilson.
Trammell was also lauded for his Eagle Scout project at Paine Intermediate School’s courtyard. He built a fun play area for students that includes picnic tables, benches, and games including bull’s eye toss, four square, shuffleboard, hopscotch and a large U.S. map.
Board members were also recognized by Superintendent Pattie Neill as part of Board Member Recognition Month.
