Senior Larian Scott scored 24 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead Clay-Chalkville past Pleasant Grove 73-59 in the third-place game of last week’s Jefferson County Tournament.
Shades Valley won the tournament for the second consecutive season over Center Point.
Clay-Chalkville sophomore point guard Kristian Hudson scored 17 of her 23 points in the second half. Bria Bethea netted 13 points and Briona Haywood scored six points and pulled down eight rebounds in the third-place win.

Clay-Chalkville (23-3) notched a 68-54 first-round win over Hueytown. Bethea scored 22 in that game. Scott added 18 and Hudson chipped in with 12. Hudson led the Lady Cougars with 23 points in the team’s 69-55 semifinal loss to Center Point.
Pinson Valley lost 64-51 to Minor in the opening round and fell 57-42 to Gardendale in the losers’ bracket. In its final tournament game Friday, the Lady Indians defeated Mortimer Jordan 51-44
