St. Vincent’s Health System babies wore red caps Friday for the American Heart Association’s 10th Annual National Wear Red Day.
The event is part of the “Go Red for Women” campaign to build awareness of heart disease, which is the No. 1 killer of women.
Dozens of babies at St. Vincent’s Birmingham and St. Vincent’s East participated in the event. In addition, the babies’ moms received heart healthy information and “Go Red” stickers.
St. Vincent’s Health System has partnered with the American Heart Association on the “Go Red For Women” campaign to help educate women on heart disease and its symptoms, which are often difficult to detect.
“We are proud to be the local sponsor of the American Heart Association’s ‘Go Red For Women’ program,” said John O’Neil, president and CEO of St. Vincent’s Health System. “Heart disease is still the No. 1 killer of women; awareness and education are vital in reversing this trend. At St. Vincent’s, we’re dedicated to using our heart care experience and resources to bring a better understanding of heart disease and prevention to the community.”
