Clay-Chalkville wide receiver DeAndre Woods has faxed his signed papers to Vanderbilt, he confirmed this morning.
Woods, a three-star prospect, also had offers from USC, Mississippi State, UAB, Auburn , Southern Miss, Ole Miss and Purdue.
“It’s a great opportunity and the next step of my life,” said Woods, a 6-foot-3, 210-pound receiver.
Woods caught 43 passes for 734 yards and seven touchdowns as a senior. As a junior, he caught 36 passes for 460 yards and 10 touchdowns on his way to being named an honorable mention all-state player by the Alabama Sports Writers Association.
“He really came on in the latter half of his sophomore year,” said Clay-Chalkville head coach Jerry Hood. “He had some really big playoff catches
. More than anything, he is a solid route runner, he’s shown the ability this year to break tackles and take plays a long way, he’s a good blocker. But more than anything, his example of wanting to be successful in the classroom and would do anything that was necessary.”
