BIRMINGHAM – On Saturday, February 9, and Sunday, February 10, weather permitting, between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., the Alabama Department of Transportation will make repairs and replacement to Impact Attenuators (Crash Cushions) on I-59 in Trussville and Birmingham, as follows:
SATURDAY, February 9 – 7a.m. thru 9 a.m.: Repairs will be made to the Impact Attenuator in the northbound direction of I-59 at the 22nd Street Interchange (Exit 125-B). This work will require closure of the I-59 northbound outside (right) lane from the 17th Street Interchange (Exit 125-A) to north of the 22ndStreet Interchange (Exit 125-B)
. The 22nd Street exit ramp will remain open to traffic but will be narrowed to provide sufficient space for equipment and personnel in the work area.
SATURDAY, February 9 – 9 a.m. thru 5 pm.: Replacement will be made to the Impact Attenuator in the northbound direction of I-59 at the southern overpass of Advent Circle (MP 146.34), north of Trussville. This work will require closure of the I-59 northbound inside (left) shoulder from approximately 1000 feet south of the overpass to just north of the overpass.
SUNDAY, February 10 – 7 a.m. thru 11 a.m.: Repairs will be made to the Impact Attenuator in the southbound direction of I-59 at the 22nd Street Interchange (Exit 125-B). This work will require closure of the two I-59 southbound inside (left) lanes from the 31th Street Interchange (Exit 126-B) to south of the 22nd Street Interchange (Exit 125-B). The 22nd Street exit ramp will remain open to traffic but will be narrowed to provide sufficient space for equipment and personnel in the work area.
SUNDAY, February 10– 11 a.m. thru 5 p.m.: Replacement will be made to the Impact Attenuator in the northbound direction of I-59 at the Chalkville Mountain Rd. overpass (exit 141), in Trussville. This work will require closure of the I-59 northbound inside (left) shoulder from approximately 1000 feet south of the overpass to just north of the overpass. Motorists are requested to consider using alternate routes, adjust arrival/departure times, observe work zone speed limits and other work zone signs, and use extreme caution in this area.
