Eight students from Paine Primary School recently earned medals at the 26th annual Hirano Cup in Montevallo.
Brady Trammell, Carson Zeitvogel and Luke Phillips all won gold medals. Logan Miller won a gold and bronze medal
. Mary Elizabeth Reeves earned three silver medals, Ethan Sutherland won two silver medals and Gabe Fievet won one silver medal. Noah Hallman won one bronze medal.

The “Karate Kids” team is taught by Allison Wright and Michele Perkins at Japan International Karate Academy in Trussville.
“Their hard work truly paid off,” Perkins said. “All of them won medals.”
