The Pinson Valley High School Theatre Department will present “Our Town,” the Pulitzer Prize-winning play by Thornton Wilder, beginning Feb. 28.
Shows will be Feb. 28, March 1 and March 2 and 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $5 for students and seniors, and $8 for adults. Reservations will be taken on a first come, first served basis. The play will be performed “in the round,” with limited seating of 130 for each performance
.
The story follows the small town of Grover’s Corners through three acts: “Daily Life,” “Love and Marriage” and “Death and Eternity.” Narrated by a stage manager with minimal props and sets, audiences follow the Webb and Gibbs families as their children fall in love, marry and eventually—in one of the most famous scenes in American theatre—die. Wilder’s main message in “Our Town” is that people should appreciate the important human interactions of everyday life while they live them.
