Hewitt-Trussville High School graduate and The Birmingham News outdoors editor Mike Bolton will be signing his new book, “The Ultimate Guide to Alabama Fishing,” Thursday at Books-A-Million in Trussville
.
The signing will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
The 320-page book features more than 100 maps showing the locations of thousands of pieces of underwater structure on every major lake in Alabama. It was complied with the help of professional and weekend tournament anglers, as well as fishing guides from across Alabama.
The book details how top anglers fish define sections of individual lakes season by season. Each lake chapter includes maps showing underwater structure, including roadbeds, brush piles, rock piles, creek channels and many other forms of structure.
“The hours Mike Bolton spent putting together this book is mind-boggling,” said professional angler Randy Howell of Springville. “I know because he has spent hundreds of hours in my boat through the years, and I’m just one of more than 75 fishermen who contributed to this book. This is a must-have book for anyone who fishes tournaments in Alabama.”
The book includes lakes on the Alabama River, the Black Warrior River, the Chattahoochee River, the Coosa River, the Tallapoosa River, the Tennessee River, the Tombigbee River and the Warrior River.
It also includes sections and maps for the Mobile Delta as well as a saltwater section with maps for Perdido Bay and the Alabama Gulf Coast.
The book is available at major bookstores and www.amazon.com.
