It wasn’t pretty.
Pinson Valley scored 10 runs on just seven hits and downed Clay-Chalkville 10-6 on Monday. The Indians drew 15 walks off Clay-Chalkville’s pitchers.
Clay-Chalkville scored all six of its runs in the fifth inning, managing just six hits for the game. The Cougars drew 11 walks off Pinson Valley pitchers.
Senior Bailey Chesser earned the win, allowing four earned runs in four innings. Senior Hunter Duke took the loss for Clay-Chalkville, allowing five earned runs in three innings.
Jared McCurdy was a bright spot for Pinson Valley (7-5), going 2-for-4 with three RBIs
. Scott Falkinburg scored three runs, sophomore Baker Hodge had an RBI and scored two runs, and Tyler Evans had two RBIs. Gracen Armstrong was 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run.
For Clay-Chalkville (5-2), freshman Thomas Johns was 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored. Junior Les Keyes had an RBI single for Clay-Chalkville.
Both teams are playing in this week’s Jefferson County Tournament.
