A pancake breakfast fundraiser for two Hewitt-Trussville High School graduates to travel to Uganda is set for April 13.
The breakfast April 13 will last from 7 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Joel’s Restaurant on Main Street in Trussville. Tickets will be $6 or four tickets for $20. Tickets can be bought at Joel’s, Crazy Horse in Argo or Nona Ruth’s in Trussville.
All proceeds will go toward sending 2009 Hewitt-Trussville graduates Anna Riggins and Shelby Snow to Uganda, where they’ve been twice in the past year. This trip will be for the whole summer.
The girls will be working in schools and orphanages in Uganda, one of the poorest countries in the world.
“We’re trying to teach these kids how to become leaders so that they can go out in Uganda and change it,” Riggins said
. “That’s really the only way that it will get changed.”
They also help with Bible studies in Ugandan villages. Riggins said she and Snow became “addicted” to the cause after their first two trips.
“It’s very clear that that’s where we’re supposed to be,” Riggins said.
