Today and Sunday, weather permitting, between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., the Alabama Department of Transportation will replace and repair impact attenuators (crash cushions) on Interstate 59 in Trussville as follows:
Saturday:
Replacements will be made to the impact attenuator in the northbound direction of I-59 at Chalkville Mountain Road (Exit 141)
. This work will require closure of the I-59 northbound inside (left) lane from approximately 1,000 feet south of the Chalkville Mountain Road overpass to just north of the overpass.
Sunday:
Replacements will be made to the impact attenuator in the northbound direction of I-59 at Trussville-Clay Road overpass (milepost 142.53). This work will require closure of the I-59 northbound inside (left) lane from approximately 1,000 feet south of the Trussville-Clay Road overpass to just north of the overpass.
Motorists are requested to consider using alternate routes, adjust arrival/departure times, observe work zone speed limits and other work zone signs, and use extreme caution in this area.
