A concerned citizen helped Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies catch two burglary suspects today moments after they allegedly burglarized a home in the Chalkville-Pinson area.
Just after 11:30 a.m. Friday, deputies were dispatched to Gable Drive to investigate a report of a residential burglary in progress. A concerned citizen called and said he saw two men go behind a home in the 800 block of Gable Drive and then heard glass break, said Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Jack Self.
While deputies were on the way to the location, the caller advised the suspects had left in a white car. Responding deputies spotted a potential suspect vehicle traveling away from the scene, Self said.
Deputies stopped the suspect vehicle – a white Crown Victoria – at Matt Aaron Lane off Sweeney Hollow Road. The vehicle was occupied by Bimarcus Hodge and Demarcus Tremble, Self said.
Deputies found a flat screen television in the back seat that was later determined to have come from the scene. Both suspects were taken into custody and transported to the Center Point substation for further questioning, Self said.
At the scene, deputies found a broken window in the back and the basement door was left open. The property was identified as stolen from the residence. No other property appeared to have been taken from the house, Self said.
Both suspects were transported to the Jefferson County Jail, where they were charged with third-degree burglary and theft of property
