This time, we are going to talk about eating for a balanced pH. This is a subject that’s often overlooked by many. However, in order for your spine and nervous system to keep your organs, muscles, and cells healthy, your pH needs to be in balance. When it’s out of balance, you put undue stress on your nervous system. In the past, we talked about some good alkaline foods that help you be healthy. This time, let’s talk about some acid foods that are not so healthy.
Most of us like to sweeten our food and drinks. NutraSweet, Sweet ‘N Low, Splenda and Equal are some sweeteners that you should do your best to avoid because they are highly acidic. People tend to think these sweeteners are all right, even healthy, but they really aren’t. Brown sugar and white sugar are acids as well. Processed honey and molasses are a little acidic and need to be limited.
What about fruits? A few fruits that are high in acid content are prunes, cranberries and blueberries. Some fruits that are not as acidic are rhubarb and sour cherries. The least of all the fruits listed, but still acidic, are plums and processed fruit juices. I’m not saying you should not eat fruits, rather, you need to limit them because of their sugar content, especially the more acidic ones.
We all know vegetables are good, but did you know you should still be careful with some due to their acid content? Be careful with carob and soybeans. Soy, in itself, has started getting a bad rap, so check into it. Lima beans, pinto beans, navy beans and potatoes are next in acidity. The least out of the group are kidney beans, string beans and spinach. These foods can be eaten, just be careful about over-consumption.
Watch what you drink. Be careful with any dairy products, beer or soft drinks because they are high in acid content. Raw milk, soy milk and coffee are next in acidity. Lastly, yogurt, buttermilk and tea have a certain level of acid content, so be careful
.
Do your research. Check into acidic and alkaline foods. I challenge you to make it a point to have a balanced pH. Remember, the goal is to be slightly alkaline so that you can ward off cancer in the body.
