The city of Clay will see some reimbursement for the money that was spent on last year’s tornado cleanup.
It’s unclear how much money the city will receive, or when, but some funding for cleanup will be allocated to Clay from the federal government, said City Manager Ronnie Dixon.
“The federal government approved additional funding for Superstorm Sandy and some additional funds for last year’s tornadoes were included,” Dixon said.

In other news, renovations on Clay’s disc golf course hit a slight stumbling block. The project will cost $15,000 more than expected due to the labor costs involved with the pouring of concrete slabs. The council voted to allocate the additional funds to the project.
North Clay Baptist Church learned on Monday it will be able to move forward with its project. The church purchased land at 7473 Mack Hicks Road, but needed council approval to rezone the land for the purpose of building a church. The council voted to rezone the property from agricultural to community institutional.
