A trail run fundraiser for the Hewitt-Trussville High School girls’ golf team is set for May 18.
The inaugural Trussville Trail Run will begin at 8 a.m. May 18 at the Trussville Senior Activity Center and go through the Trussville Sports Complex.
Participants may run a 5K or 10K for $30 for either race. The fee includes a T-shirt if participants register early.
Those who wish to participate can register at www.active.com by searching “TTR.” Registration ends May 16. An open registration will begin at 7 a.m. the day of the race, and it will cost $40. Hewitt-Trussville teachers and students can participate for $20
.
Businesses can sponsor the race for $100, which includes covering the costs for the race, providing for the girls’ golf program, printing the business name on the T-shirts and any item or information the business wants to put in the goody bag that each runner receives.
The high school girls’ golf team consists of juniors Hannah McCracken, Isabella Calma and Alexandria Calma.
“These girls have been the backbone of the girls’ squad since they were in ninth grade,” said first-year girls’ golf coach Jamey Curlee. “We can be contenders this year and definitely next year.”
The team’s next matches are next Wednesday against Homewood at Oxmoor Valley, and next Thursday at Hoover Country Club against Hoover and Homewood. The state tournament will be May 13-14 in Muscle Shoals.
