The Hewitt-Trussville baseball fell to No
. 9 in the latest Alabama Sports Writers Association Class 6A rankings, released today.
The Huskies (19-8) were No. 5 last week.
The top eight teams in Class 6A, in order, are Thompson, Smiths Station, Huntsville, Hoover, Fairhope, McGill-Toolen, Baker and Bob Jones.

Pinson Valley (20-9), after falling out of the rankings, was back in the Class 5A poll at No. 10. Pinson Valley’s schedule has helped it prepare for this part of the season. The top nine teams in Class 5A, in order, are Spanish Fort, Faith Academy, Russell County, Southside-Gadsden, Hartselle, Cullman, Homewood, Etowah and Chilton County.
Clay-Chalkville (19-8) has won seven games in a row. The Cougars have yet to appear in the Class 6A top 10.
The Hewitt-Trussville softball team, which has been No. 10 in the Class 6A rankings the last couple weeks, dropped out of the top 10. The Lady Huskies (19-7) were in the “others nominated” category.
