The Pinson Valley boys’ soccer team is back-to-back Class 5A, Section 6 champions.
The Indians locked up a Class 5A playoff spot last week.
Pinson Valley, now ranked No. 6 in the latest Class 5A coaches’ rankings, beat Class 6A No. 9 Chelsea on the road Monday night, 4-2.
Hunter Middleton scored three goals and Sam Shaw kicked in the other to lead Pinson Valley (10-3-4) to the win. Assisting on the goals were Ramone Cupido, Josh Almandarez and Gio Molina. Goalkeeper Jaime Vargas made 11 saves for Pinson Valley.
Class 6A No. 12 Hewitt-Trussville (10-5-3) defeated Pinson Valley 5-3 on Tuesday night

Pinson Valley next plays Friday at Lawson Field against Huffman at 6:30 p.m. Hewitt-Trussville next plays Thursday at Gardendale at 7 p.m.
The Hewitt-Trussville girls’ soccer team was ranked No. 10 in the latest coaches’ rankings released last week. The girls are 12-3-1 and next play Thursday at Gardendale at 5 p.m. Both Hewitt-Trussville soccer teams host Clay-Chalkville on Tuesday at 6 p.m. and 7 p.m.
In other local sports news, the Hewitt-Trussville boys’ track and field team won the Spain Park Classic last week. Michael Snow won the discus throw and shot put.
The girls’ team finished in third place. Veronica Lyle broke her own meet record in the 800-meter run and set the meet record in the 1,600-meter run. Madelaine Julbert won the 300-meter hurdles.
