Two Hewitt-Trussville High School students have been named as one of top six finalists in the Junior Achievement Biz Plan Challenge.
Kevin Elmore and Patrick Falkner made a turtle shell waterproof storage case for kayaks. Elmore helped develop the project through his engineering class at the high school. The duo’s PowerPoint presentation and knowledge of the product impressed the panel of five judges at the Golden Flake headquarters in Birmingham.

More than 40 teams submitted plans for the competition. The requirements were to create a business plan, investor pitch and commercial for a product or service they had created. Groups then presented their plans and commercials to the panel.
