Pinson Valley won the opener in the best-of-three series with Walker 12-2 on Friday night in five innings.
The game ended on a Tyler Evans walk in the fifth that scored Baker Hodge, giving the Indians the all-important ten-run advantage after five.
Productive second and fourth innings were key for Pinson in the first round matchup. The home team plaited four runs in the second and five in the fourth inning
.
Senior right-hander Colby Wingard went the distance for the Indians, striking out seven Vikings and walking only one. He really zoned in with his back against the wall, rendering Walker 1-for-5 with runners in scoring position.
Catcher Austin Little went 2-for-3 at the dish with one RBI. Senior Jason Little recorded two RBIs on a 2-for-3 night, as did shortstop Josh Hines.
