The Alabama High School Athletic Association Central Board of Control last week approved raising football playoff ticket prices
Prices will increase by $1 in the first three rounds, increasing from $7 to $8. Tickets will be $10 for semifinal games and $12 for advance tickets for the Super 6 state finals. Tickets bought on site the day of the game will be $15.
Clay-Chalkville posted a 12-2 record last season and reached the semifinals of the Class 6A state football playoffs, losing at Hoover. Pinson Valley went 8-4 and reached the second round, and Hewitt-Trussville posted a 4-6 mark and missed the playoffs for the first time since the 2006 season.
The council also approved a proposal to change the fall practice rule, which currently requires that the first three days of fall practice be in helmets and shorts. The amended rule will require only two days in helmet and shorts followed by one practice in helmet, shorts and shoulder pads on the third day. That practice may last no more than 1½ hours. Full pads will still be allowed on the fourth day of practice.
The board also approved of allowing the AHSAA to study the use of a private investigation firm in AHSAA transfer rule investigations. Clay-Chalkville forfeited nine wins in 2011 for playing an ineligible player.
