Trussville’s Lightning Strikes will be the site of a Professional Bowling Association tournament next week
.
The PBA50 Greater Birmingham Open begins Sunday and runs through Wednesday.
Two locals, Charles Allen Jr. of Pinson and Dyer Honeycutt Jr. of Trussville, are two of 87 bowlers in the tournament.
Walter Ray Williams Jr. will compete in the tournament. He is one of the most recognized bowlers in the nation, a Hall of Famer who was last year’s PBA50 Tour Player of the Year. He has won 47 PBA Tour tournaments.
The tournament features bowlers 50 years or older. The winner will earn $7,500, second placed will receive $4,000 and third- and fourth-place finishers will earn $2,500 each. Fifth through eighth place will earn $1,700 each, and ninth through 16th will receive $1,700 each.
Admission for spectators is free.
