Both Hewitt-Trussville soccer teams are in the final eight in Class 6A for the first time in school history.
The girls’ team (16-3-1), ranked No. 10, hosts No. 4 Mountain Brook (19-3-2) at 5 p.m. Saturday at the Trussville Civic Center for the third round of the state playoffs.
The boys’ team (15-6-3), also ranked No. 10, hosts No. 2 Vestavia Hills (26-1-1) at 7 p.m. Saturday at the civic center.
For the girls’ team, Allie Wiggins made the all-metro first-team this season, and Jessica Vaughn and Lauren Smith made honorable mention.
For the boys’ team, Luke Reeves made the all-metro first-team this season, and Griffin Wright, Tanner Fulton and Isaac Searcy made honorable mention.
Pinson Valley (14-5-4), ranked No. 6 in Class 5A, will host Moody in the third round Saturday at 6 p.m
. at Willie Adams Stadium.
