Amber Hammonds is Hewitt-Trussville’s table setter.
In Friday’s Class 6A, Area 12 championship against Gardendale, she didn’t disappoint
.
Hammonds was 3-for-4 with three runs scored and two RBIs in the No. 6 Lady Huskies’ 12-4 championship win over Gardendale.
Senior Kimberly Mullins was 4-for-4 with one RBI and a run scored. Mullins was named tournament MVP.
“I am so blessed to play on this field and with a great bunch of teammates, and will have a lot of great memories from this experience,” Mullins said.
Leigh McAnally was 2-for-4 with three RBIs, Tate Moseley had two RBIs and three runs, and Devin Moseley scored two runs for Hewitt-Trussville (37-10). Hewitt-Trussville scored six runs in the fourth inning to break the game open. Freshman Callie Shields picked up the win, allowing four runs on 11 hits over seven innings.
Hammonds, McAnally and Kristen Bittle were named to the all-tournament team. Hewitt-Trussville didn’t lose a game at Goldie Paine Field this season.
Hewitt-Trussville plays in state regional play in Tuscaloosa this weekend. The Lady Huskies play Mountain Brook at 5 p.m. Friday at Sokol Park.
