Relay for Life of East Jefferson will begin Friday night in Trussville.
The event will last from 6 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Saturday at the youth football field at the Trussville Sports Complex
Relay for Life is an event that raises funds to fight cancer and a chance to honor cancer survivors and remember loved ones lost.
Special moments during a typical Relay for Life event include a luminaria ceremony, a fight back ceremony and a survivors lap.
So far, 39 teams and 245 participants have raised $38,570.81 for the East Jefferson Relay event.
A Trussville girl, 5-year-old Avery Snuggs, who has been battling T-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia since February 2012, is this year’s honorary chairperson for the event.
