The Trussville Racquet Club has added a second tennis professional.
Shelley Wirt, a Hewitt-Trussville High School graduate, is the new pro. She joins Bea Clark, a 2004 Alabama Tennis Hall of Fame inductee who has been at the club 14 years.
Wirt is a 1998 Hewitt-Trussville High School graduate. She played tennis in high school and one year at Birmingham-Southern College.
Wirt said the goal at the racquet club is to build and grow a junior tennis program. Clark also said she hopes to build a bigger junior program at the racquet club.
The Trussville Racquet Club, on Riverbend Road in the Trussville Sports Complex, includes six clay courts and six hard courts.
Clark is a United States Professional Tennis Association teaching professional with 30 years of teaching experience
. She played four years at UAB.
