Paine Primary School kindergarten teacher Angela Shorter applied for and received a grant from Birmingham Audubon Society to plant a habitat garden this year.
The garden will enhance the bird sanctuary that the Audubon Society also funded outside her classroom window.

Shorter’s kindergarten class with the help of buddy teacher Marcia Segers’ class has completed the garden and will be writing plans to use the area as an outdoor learning environment for the elementary schools.
