A Pinson Elementary School teacher was recently honored at the annual Jefferson County Schools annual celebration as being a valuable mentor for new teachers.
Second-grade teacher Leslie Chatta was one of the honored mentors. Being a mentor means that Chatta helped never-before-taught teachers to create successful lesson plans, develop good discipline techniques and have effective classroom management.
Chatta received a book of teacher wisdom and quotes for understanding the classroom better from Jefferson County Schools Superintendent Stephen Nowlin.
Last month, Pinson Elementary second-grade teacher Missy Presley’s science Olympiad class was chosen to be the Charter Communication and First Educators Credit Union Academic Team of the Week.
Members of that class were Briona Wilder, Kelsey McKee, Darcy Hall, Ashley Vinson, Rylee Rittenhouse, Noelle Potter, Savannah Garrett, Ayden Boatwright, Brenden Thomas, Trace Wilbanks, Laterria Lipscomb, Aaron Martinez, Kylee Smith, Will Sanders, Kate Rickles, J.T. Steber, Maddie Turner, Azaliah Lord, Will Sullivan, Haleigh Pomerleau, Bailey Wade and Mary Foster.
