The Center Point Fire District last week received donations from Valspar and Homeland Vinyl for a fire extinguisher training simulator, it announced on its Facebook page.
The fire district currently serves approximately 65,000 citizens within a 60-mile radius. On an annual basis, its emergency apparatus responds to approximately 250 fire calls, ranging from structure fires, outdoor/rubbish fires and vehicle fires.
The fire district covers Clay, Pinson and Center Point, among other areas.

The Center Point Fire District now offers fire extinguisher training to the businesses, organizations and communities located in the fire district. Valspar and Homeland Vinyl each donated to the funding for a Bullex LPG fire extinguisher training simulator. The goal is to offer specialized fire extinguisher training for businesses, organizations and the community. The simulator allows for hands-on experience, giving the individual a realistic feel and understanding the proper use of a fire extinguisher.
