A Center Point teenager is in the Jefferson County Jail after a weekend robbery at the Dollar General in the 2200 block of Brewster Road in the Clay-Chalkville area.
The robbery happened just after 3 p.m. Saturday, said Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Randy Christian.
Christian said a suspect had entered the store, pointed a gun at the cashier and demanded money. The cashier gave him the money and he fled on foot, Christian said.
A d deputies responded and a perimeter was established. The suspect was spotted again on Martin Road near Baggett Drive and a foot chase ensued. He was taken into custody when he tried to lay down and hide in the woods, Christian said.
Deputies recovered the money and the handgun used in the robbery. The suspect was identified as a 17-year-old juvenile from Center Point. He was charged as an adult with first-degree robbery and taken to the Jefferson County Jail with ,000 bond. His name is being withheld pending a warrant being obtained.
