A 2010 Hewitt-Trussville High School graduate is one of five students from the University of Alabama’s College of Communication and Information Sciences to be named a recipient of a scholarship from the Alabama Broadcasters Association Education Foundation.
Katie Malone is one of the five recipients of a $3,000 scholarship. The scholarships are awarded to a junior or senior considered to have promise as a future broadcaster.
Malone is a senior majoring in telecommunication and film. As a freshman, Malone interned for “Sports Campus,” a talk show on WTBC 1230 AM in Tuscaloosa. She is currently interning with WVUA-TV and maintains a 3.7 GPA.
Malone competed in her third Miss Alabama Pageant competition last week.
The Alabama Broadcasters Association Education Foundation provides college scholarships in its pursuit of a higher standard of professionalism in the industry, promoting a greater understanding of ethics and societal responsibility of broadcasters and supporting potential and commitment in rising broadcasters. The Alabama Broadcasters Association serves as the official voice of the broadcasting industry in Alabama.
