In a statement released today, the Alabama Department of Transportation said a planned moving operation for installation of traffic striping on I-459 would take place Wednesday night and Thursday morning.
Work is planned from the Grants Mill Road Interchange (Exit 27) in Irondale to the US-11 Interchange (Exit 32), in Trussville.
Weather permitting, beginning on Wednesday, June 12, at 8 p.m., the Alabama Department of Transportation will install traffic striping on I-459 as follows:
* I-459 northbound from the Grants Mill Road Interchange (exit 27) in Irondale to the US-11 Interchange (exit 32) in Trussville.
*This will be a moving operation and when the traffic striping is completed in the northbound direction of travel, the work will continue in the southbound direction.
This should be completed in approximately two to three days, dependent on weather conditions and work progress. All travel lanes will be reopened to traffic by 5 a.m. each day.
Motorists are requested to consider using alternate routes, adjust arrival/departure times, observe work zone speed limits and other work zone signs, and use extreme caution in this area. ALDOT thanks motorists for their patience during this Maintenance Operation to improve Alabama’s roadways.
