A spokesman with the Jefferson County Coroners office today identified David Spearman, 53, as Saturday’s drowning victim.
Spearman was discovered underwater by his wife in a pool near Palmerdale, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
Just before 4 p.m. Saturday, deputies were called to the 8700 block of Lakeview Circle in the Woodhaven community by Palmerdale Fire and Rescue to assist with a medical emergency.
Deputies arrived and found paramedics working to resuscitate the victim. It was learned that the 53-year-old male victim and two friends had been working to clear a clogged drain in the deep end of a swimming pool.
The victim was pushing a clearing tool through the drain while his friends waited at the pump for it to emerge. His wife came out and found him at the bottom of the pool.
She assumed he was working, but noticed he was not moving. She called the friends to help. They removed him from the pool and found that he was not breathing. They began CPR. The victim was pronounced dead on the scene.
This appears to be an accident and foul play is not suspected.
