The Texas legislature is in special session to try and pass a bill that would limit abortions in the state by outlawing the procedure after 20 weeks of pregnancy and raising the medical standards of abortion clinics. The bill, which is similar to one that passed in Alabama, failed during the Texas regular session after a successful filibuster by Democrat state senator Wendy Davis.
The session has drawn abortion supporters and opponents to the capitol steps where demonstrators have gone back and forth for two days. Tuesday, that point-counter point demonstration took a bizarre turn that has social media and the news world buzzing.
As the pro-life group gathered and sang “Amazing Grace,” pro-choice demonstrators began to chant, “Hail Satan.” The hash tag #hailsatan has been trending on Twitter ever since.
The Blaze reported, “Only five out of 42 clinics in Texas qualify as ambulatory surgical centers and they are in major metropolitan areas. Many clinics would need to relocate to meet ventilation requirements and to have the space required for operating rooms and hallways.”
The Blaze website also has a video of the scene here.
