The Trussville Police Department has made an arrest in the June 11 robbery of the Quality Inn on Norrell Drive in Trussville.
Trussville police Lt. Jeff Bridges said Kerry James Kewandway, 34, is currently in the Jefferson County Jail, charged with armed robbery. Bridges said Kewandway’s bond was set at $60,000.
Kewandway, who Bridges said lives in the Irondale area, is 6-foot-4 and 240 pounds. Bridges said Kewandway was arrested on another charge from another agency and then confessed to the hotel robbery.
The hotel was robbed about 9:30 p.m. June 11 when a suspect entered the hotel lobby armed with a knife. The suspect was originally described as a white male in his late 20s or early 30s, between 6-foot-1 and 6-foot-5, and weighing between 190 pounds and 200 pounds.
The suspect was wearing a white baseball cap, dark shirt, light shorts, dark shoes and covered his face with a bandana.
